Welcome to the Newham Youth Orchestra Memories and Alumni page
If you were a member of this fine orchestra this page will be of interest to you. It has given many young people over the years the joyful experience of playing music in a vibrant and dynamic orchestra trained and led by great musicians.
There are many people who now work in the music industry as performers, composers, teachers, producers and many other disciplines all as a direct result of the teaching and training and life experience that the Newham Academy and the Youth Orchestra gave them. Living proof that the arts, where funded correctly can produce results. Many of the members of the Newham Academy came from disadvantaged backgrounds and underprivileged homes and could not possibly afford the luxury of music tuition. Newham Council had the foresight and the determination to make its' music provision the best available and to this day it upholds that standard.
There is a contact page for your convenience to register an interest in future events and a link to the Editor/webmaster to upload your own memories and photos. All photographs containing identifiable persons must have the permission of those people prior to publication. All submitted articles are subject to editor's discretion.
Please note that written article files must be in either MS Word or Adobe PDF format, and photographs must be in jpeg format. Alternately memories can be sent in email format and will be copied and pasted to the site.
